Today my baby girl is 5!
Those of you with smaller children may not know this as she tends to revert to babyhood out of sheer competative drive....she will "out-baby" any baby she sees!!
For those of you without babies to compete with, she will most likely announce that she is almost 16 and nearly ready to get behind the wheel of her black "viper-car". I'm pretty sure she thinks this car that her brother talks about is actually shaped like a snake!
You never know in Taryn-world! I've decided I need to compile a dictionary of Tarynisms. For example...
"Ostrich Mountain" - n. Picacho Peak to most normal Tucsonans, however, the presence of an ostrich farm at the base of the mountain means that everyone should recognize and call it thus
"scales" - n. a word used to represent any and all pieces of anatomy, both human and animal...in fact, after 2 YEARS of discussing the differences between mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects she still has no idea that they are different!! Example: "Is an opossum a rat or a bug?"
"flood" - n. the white bird that Noah sent out from the Ark and returned with an olive branch
And there are plenty more like these. In fact, her confidence in who God made her is almost as enviable as her passion to understand Him. One time she wanted to know exactly where her heart was so she could find Jesus whenever she wanted! Before bed each night, she requires a verbal confirmation from me that there are thousands and thousands of God's angels in the world around her...even while she sleeps! And while it is next to impossible to get her to remember ANYTHING she's learned that day in school, she has managed to memorize two crucial pieces of scripture!
But most of all I am grateful for her sense of humor and ability to laugh often...usually at herself! Most girls, whether they are 1, 5, or 16, take themselves too seriously to ever have that luxury. We consider ourselves pretty lucky to have this 1...5...16 year old around!
