Brody's First Spanking

I don't know where ya'll fall on the spanking vs. no spanking debate...and let's be honest...I don't really care...because my child REQUIRES spankings!! I should've known that MY son would fall on the early end of the age appropriate scale for spankings (14 months according to James Dobson's wonderful book of answers...Dare to Discipline). He got his first spanking on Monday when he grabbed Daddy's remote (a BIG no-no in the Bangert household!) and proceeded to have a defiant, stare-down match with Daddy rather than putting down the remote as instructed (and as he has obediently done time and again before this). His second spanking came Tues. night when he stood up in the bathtub for the 3rd time after being told no AND being strong-armed back down on his hynie. But it was the third time that will stick in my mind FOREVER! He was sitting in his highchair eating, and we began one of his FAVORITE battles...trying to drop his food on the floor for the dog, which wouldn't be so bad except that he then expects me to make a whole new helping of food for him to eat! Anyway...after looking him in the eye and giving him a very firm NO, he proceeded to look me in the eye, hold out his hand, wait a few seconds for emphasis, and drop his food! It only took me a matter of seconds to get him out of his high-chair, and with one foul swoop I grabbed the inside of his diaper and pulled it down for the moment of impact. I say "foul", however, because he had previously filled his diaper with a special surprise that coated my hand quite nicely! Needless to say, we have yet to attain spanking number 3!
