Does anyone remember that commercial where the lady is frying an egg while she says. "This is your brain....This is your brain on drugs...any questions?" That pretty much sums up my life right now. I've been hooked on Olympics for the past two weeks. Just like every other junkie, I told myself I could quit whenever I wanted...it was no big deal. But night after night I was twitching in front of the T.V. set into the wee hours of the morning for "just one more hit"! I'm not gonna lie...I would take any event that was on...and with Direct TV we had 24 hour coverage on 5 different channels!! And with Olympics...there is NEVER a bad trip (with perhaps the exception of synchronized swimming...that's just a little creepy!!). Badminton may seem boring at any normal hour of the day, but come 2:30 am, it's a THRILL RIDE!! I've never felt more high than when Lezak chased down that cocky Frenchie in the 4x100 m. relay.
And then I was banished to forced rehab by none other than Jackie Chan! His goofy song amidst the dancing pandas at the closing ceremonies sent me into immediate withdrawl. Now I toss and turn in the wee hours of the morning remembering everything that was steeplechase and quadruple skulls. The shakes and sweats are starting to cease, but all it will take is one brief glimpse of Big Ben in 2012 to send my brain back to the frying pan!
