The Quest

I'm stressed.

Yes it's the holidays. Yes the weather is INSANE (how does one deal with 78 degrees one day and 29 degrees the next?) Yes our budget has landed in the red AGAIN. Yes my child has just recently learned the appropriate application of the word "no".

But is my stress caused by any of these rational, understandable reasons? Of course not.

I'm stressed because I might, possibly, maybe having a girl in 5 months and we can't come up with a SINGLE girl's name that we both like. What's a nesting-phase momma to do? I can't look at any more online baby name sites because I've scoured them all. Don't believe me? Ask me what the 1000th most popular name was for 2007...............Zaniya. Wanna know what the most popular name was for the state of Arizona?...........Isabella. Texas?................Emily. Your home state?........try me!

I've looked at so many names that I don't have any favorites anymore. They ALL sound wrong!! My kid is going to end up being the lead character in Dirty Dancing. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"

So here's what I've decided. Since this quest is quickly morphing into The Neverending Story, I'm gonna embrace it. I'm gonna watch that dumb movie as many times as it takes to finally understand what name the kid yells into the stormy night to save Fantasia from The Nothing. And that, my friends, will be the name of our baby!

Kudos on blogging about baby names. You are a brave one. You are now doomed to get stupid suggestions for the rest of the pregnancy, most I'm sure from our side of the family. And I'm glad you're not listening to Kari. That movie is an absolute classic.
